Timber Cladding

Sustainability

All of our timber is sustainably sourced and certified. We are committed to only sourcing our timber from legal, sustainable and well-managed forests.

Our timber cladding is made to order from our customer’s specific requirements. Our suppliers have robust quality control measures, state-of-the-art milling machinery and experienced staff, ensuring a cladding product you can be proud of.

Our suppliers provide the added value of both fire-retardant treatment and coated finishes to all of our cladding products. They also provide pre-purchase support through CAD drawings and samples to ensure the correct product is chosen.

Fire Treatment

Fire retardant treatment is available for all our timber cladding. The choice of treatment and specification will depend on the end use of the material to be treated. Building regulations will provide guidance to architects and specifiers on the most appropriate treatment type. Generally, treatment of timber products is to Euroclass B.

Osmose Fire-X – For use in external applications when the material is unprotected from weathering and directly exposed to rain.

We have a range of species that are readily available, but the most popular options are listed here:

Siberian Larch

Siberian Larch is a moderately durable, very dense and slow grown softwood that is predominately heartwood. The boards come in a straw yellow through to a golden-brown colour which will colour down to a silvery grey if left without a UV protective coating once installed.

Siberian Larch is one of the hardest and most durable softwoods commercially available. Due to its hard-wearing properties, it is most commonly used in exterior and high impact applications for schools, retail buildings, and public walkways and decking.

It is the cladding choice for many architects and contractors due to its excellent versatility, while also providing a contemporary clean, consistent look. It has an unrivalled lifespan of between 50 and 100 years.

Siberian Larch is available in two grades:

Superior grade

• This is the best unsorted grade (I-III) and is virtually knot free

• Kiln dried to a moisture content of approximately 16 - 18%

• Available in a range of lengths, widths and thicknesses

Standard grade

• This is classed as Saw - Falling grade (I-IV) Siberian

• Tight live knot content is higher than superior grade but still easily workable into any application

• Kiln dried to moisture content of approximately 16 - 18%

• Available in a range of lengths, widths and thicknesses

Western Red Cedar

Cedar has for many years been used in exterior cladding applications due to its warm attractive appearance and resistance to weather.

Along with its lightweight, stable and naturally durable properties, it is easy to machine, work with and finish.

Cedar is yellowish to reddish brown in colour but will turn a silvery grey if left without a UV protective coating once installed. Over recent years the thermal properties of Cedar have made it an increasingly popular choice where efficiencies and cost savings are of importance.

European Redwood

European Redwood is the most common species used in internal and external joinery applications. It is easily machined to a smooth clean finish and can be varnished, stained, painted and glued easily. It is creamy white to yellowish in colour.

Our European Redwood is imported from Scandinavia in two grades, premier (unsorted) and standard (Vths).
